He was the man who ushered in a new era of world politics when he helped to dismantle Communist rule in Russia. Mikhail Gorbachev will be remembered throughout history because of his accomplishments at the end of the U.S.S.R.

However, his work wasn’t done when he resigned from his position at the top of the Russian government. At sixty years old, he was only just beginning his post-Communist journey. Between writing memoirs, starting charities, rubbing elbows with important figures, and working with the Green Cross, Mikhail Gorbachev has been nothing if not busy.

Most people probably don’t know what happened after retiring from his first run in politics, so let’s take a look at what happened to Mikhail Gorbachev.
