From Dennis Rodman and Kim Jong-un to Donald Trump and Ye, there's no shortage of examples for weird and unexpected relationships between world leaders and pop culture figures. One of the stranger examples might be the odd couple of Vladimir Putin and Steven Seagal.
Steven Seagal was appointed by Russia as a goodwill ambassador to the United States, which seems like an unusual position for a guy who was born in Michigan. He's also gone on to be granted both Russian and Serbian citizenship.
Putin and Seagal share an interest in martial arts, with Seagal being known for aikido and Putin practicing judo. But how did they ever get in the same room to begin with? Here's how Steven Seagal and Vladimir Putin became friends.
